VOLUNTEERS

Our department is always looking for volunteers.  It takes a special type of individual who is willing to dedicate their own personal time to learning about the fire service.  Firefighting and EMS are not easy jobs by any means.

We do our own in-house training every Wednesday, to which our volunteers are encouraged to attend.

The dedication and a true commitment to this program can be extremely rewarding.  If you are interested in a career in the firefighting industry, there is no better way to find out if it is something worth pursuing.  We are able to help you gain the knowledge and certifications necessary to follow this career.

If there are any questions, please email Lieutenant Aaron Johnson at [email protected] or call the station at 210-695-5033.

HIRING PROCESS

The hiring process, in most cases, begins with the submission of the job application .

A written and physical agility exam will be scheduled and administered to all applicants. The written and physical agility exam will determine who will proceed to an interview panel.

The next step would be for an applicant to have an appointment scheduled for a Chief's interview.  Should both parties be interested, the department would proceed with completing a background check, driver's license check, verifying certifications, references and a drug screen.
